Lectures, discussions, films and other programming focusing on the achievements and experiences of women highlight the week-long conference.
First held in 1987, Women's Week is an annual event each March, which is also National Women's History Month. This year marks the 15th anniversary of Women's Week and the 30th anniversary of the first Women's Studies course at Ball State.
Steinem will present "Feminism 101" at Emens Auditorium March 27 at 7:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Each year during Women's Week, the Women's Studies Program conducts a philanthropic campaign. This year, in conjunction with Steinem's visit, the program has designated the Ms. Foundation for Women as their philanthropic platform.
The Women's Studies Program provides a forum for learning and teaching about women's lives and the way society defines gender roles. This is accomplished by administering an academic minor in women's studies, offering a wide variety of programs, fostering research about women, advocating change for women's lives, identifying career opportunities and serving as a resource to the university and larger community.
