Late Nite Carnival promises fireworks, free end of the year festivities (4/12/2007)
The carnival is coming to Ball State, and it promises to be a fun, free celebration for students as the academic year winds to a close.

The fourth annual carnival is set for 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. April 20 in the C-1 parking lots on the north side of campus. Entry is free for students with a Ball State ID and $5 for faculty, staff and guests of Ball State students. This event is not open to the public.

"The purpose of the carnival is the same as every Late Nite - to bring the students together in a fun and safe environment," said Megan Peppers, Late Nite adviser. "It creates a sense of community and gives the students something fun to do."

The carnival will have rides, games and booths sponsored by different student organizations. Free refreshments including popcorn, sno-cones and cotton candy will be available.

New this year will be a fireworks show at midnight, as well as a main stage with musical performers, a mentalist and a yo-yo artist.

Jessica Inman, Late Nite student director, said last year's carnival attendance was almost 7,000. This year, the event is expecting even more students to attend for a final celebration before summer.

"This truly is Ball State's event," Inman said. "It's a group effort from everyone on campus, and the location is so close to students. If you were to look out your window on a Friday night, how could you resist joining the fun?"
