MUNCIE, Ind. - Seven staff members were recently honored for outstanding service,
career growth and commitment to students in the fifth annual Student
Affairs Awards and Recognition program.
The event celebrates accomplishments and dedication of staff at all
levels in Student Affairs. Staff are nominated for awards in several
categories and are selected by members of an awards and recognition
committee and members of staff development committees.
Award categories recognize student employees and graduate assistants and service, support and professional staff members. In addition, awards may be presented for outstanding research and for exemplary programs, activities and customer service by individuals or groups.
Patsy Donn, director of the Counseling and Psychological Services Center, was named the 2000 recipient of the Jack Beyerl Outstanding Professional Staff award. The award is named in honor of the late Merrill C. "Jack" Beyerl, former vice president for student affairs.
Other awards presented were:
- Outstanding Student Employee: Kristin Archer, a senior from Greencastle working in the Counseling and Psychological Services Center; and Tara King, a senior from Sidney, Ohio, working in the Office of Admissions.
- Outstanding Graduate Assistant: Dionne Moore, Housing and Residence Life.
- Outstanding New Professional Staff Award: Lisa Horst, Office of Admissions.
- Dale Bowman Outstanding Program/Activity/Customer Service Award: Cardinal Leadership and Service Seminar, Office of Leadership and Service Programs.
- Doris Edwards/Hester Mitchell Outstanding Support Staff Award: Carol Casazza, Office of the Student Ombudsperson/Assistant to the Vice President for Student Affairs.
- Outstanding Researcher Award: Randy Hyman, associate vice president for student affairs.
