Music education majors eligible for new scholarship (2/19/2002)
MUNCIE, Ind. - A new scholarship will provide financial support to music education students attending Ball State University.

Erwin C. and Barbara D. Mueller have established a scholarship to assist juniors and seniors majoring in music with percussion as their major instrument.

Students must maintain a grade-point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, and have demonstrated participation in various large ensembles in addition to the marimba/percussion ensemble. Recipients may receive the scholarship only one time.

Erwin C. Mueller was named the Sursa Distinguished Professor in Fine Arts in 1995. He has served the School of Music as acting director, associate director and chair of the Department of Applied Studies. He earned his bachelor's degree and doctorate at Ball State.

The couple met at Ball State as undergraduate students while pursuing degrees in music.
