IU marketing official to head University Relations (5/25/2000)

MUNCIE, Ind. — Heather S. Shupp, an associate marketing director at Indiana University, has been named executive director of university relations at Ball State University effective July 1.

Shupp's areas of responsibility include public relations, media relations, photographic services, display services, publications and university communications. She reports to Don L. Park, vice president for university advancement.

Shupp has nine years of communications and marketing experience and spent the majority of her career with Indiana University in Bloomington.

At IU, she was associate director for university-wide marketing, assistant director of marketing for publications and a writer/editor. Shupp holds a bachelor's degree in English from The College of William and Mary.

"I believe Heather will be an excellent addition to the university advancement area," said Park. "She will provide outstanding leadership for university relations."

Shupp replaces Jeffrey Alford, who is now executive director of public relations and marketing at the University of Mississippi.

The Office of University Relations strives to raise public awareness of, understanding of, and appreciation for Ball State. It provides a full-range of communication services to university departments and organizations.
