Union School students eligible for scholarship (1/9/2002)
MUNCIE, Ind. - Graduates of the Union School Corp. in Randolph County are eligible for a new scholarship at Ball State University.

The Golliher Family Scholarship, established in the memory of Richard L. Golliher by his wife, Dorothy A. Golliher, is available to an incoming freshman from the school system.

Richard Golliher, a Randolph County banker for 30 years, served as an executive at financial institutions in Losantville, Parker City and Saratoga. A graduate of Losantville High School, he was active in community affairs and served two terms on the Union School Corp.'s board.

His family has strong ties to Ball State. Dorothy A. Golliher graduated from the university with a bachelor's degree in 1965 and received a master's degree in 1971. Richard Golliher's sisters, Neva Golliher Welbourn and Alberta Golliher, received bachelor's degrees in 1939 and 1945, respectively.

A son, Ken Golliher, received his bachelor's degree in 1973. Jerry Golliher, a grandson, graduated with a bachelor's degree in 1990.
