The Murray M. and Edith C. Wise Library Fund will honor Wise and her husband, of Bethlehem, Pa. Wise attended Ball State, is a graduate of American University in Washington and received a master's degree in library science from Rutgers University.
She worked in the Latin American division at the Library of Congress. During the 1950s, the Wises lived in Panama, where her husband was the United States deputy ambassador. In 1952, they moved to New York, where she worked as a reference librarian at the U.N. Headquarters. She later became the head of the reference department at New York University Library.
After retiring, she took on several library positions at the New York Port Authority and American Folk Art Museum in New York and Kirkland Village in Bethlehem, Pa.
