New lecture series honors former faculty member, wife (11/7/2001)
MUNCIE, Ind. – Family and friends of a former Ball State University professor and his wife have established an endowment to start a lecture series.

The Bruce F. and Ildiko B. Meyer Endowed Lecture Fund provides the Honors College with the monetary resources to host a lecture series. The fund provides funding for honoraria, travel, and other expenses.

The Honors College provides distinctive learning experiences and opportunities for students of high academic promise and achievement in all majors at Ball State.

Bruce Meyer, who died in 1998, joined the Ball State architecture faculty in 1973. He was named interim dean of the Honors College in 1996 and was appointed dean in 1997. He was also director of the Whitinger Scholars Program and had previously served as acting associate dean and assistant to the dean in the College of Architecture and Planning.

Ildiko B. Meyer, who died in 1999, graduated summa cum laude from the University of Utah and received a master's degree in psychology from Ball State. She had been a school psychologist for New Castle and Muncie Community Schools. She was a member of the National Association of School Psychologists and American Horticultural Society.
