New international education position created at Ball State (10/24/2001)
MUNCIE, Ind. - Ball State University is conducting a national search for a new position dedicated to international education.

The assistant provost for international education will coordinate all activities in international education, including the Center for International Programs.

The person will work closely with the president's senior staff and college deans to develop and carry out strategies for study abroad programs, international student recruitment and retention, faculty development, curriculum, global partnerships and other new opportunities.

The position, expected to be filled by July 1, 2002, will report to the provost.

"This new position is intended to help make these efforts even more effective through improved support and coordination - and to help shape new initiatives," said President Blaine A. Brownell.

Funding for the position is being drawn from existing funds made available by the appointment of one individual to previously separate appointments for information technology and executive assistant to the president.

Candidates must have an earned doctorate and experience in international education. Preferred qualifications include five or more years experience in international administration and experience with international student recruitment and development of recruitment programs.

Brian Sinclair, chair of the Department of Architecture, is chairing the search.
