Gene Burton, Ball State University's director of public safety, was recently appointed to the board of commissioners for the Indiana Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission (ILEAC).

ILEAC is working with the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA), the national accreditation board, to provide information and accessibility about accreditation for police departments throughout the state.

ILEAC's board includes police chiefs, colleges and universities, high schools, public officials and business leaders from across the state.

Burton is also leading the Ball State police department through its accreditation process.
