McConkey cited the complexity of the way in which the allegations have been presented to the university as one of the primary reasons for requesting state police inquiry.
“In some instances, we have received additional details in later communications about complaints made in earlier communications,” said McConkey. “And in some cases there are complaints referenced in one set of materials that are presented in letters by other individuals. What we want to do now is make sure there is a full inquiry, and that we have all the information regarding possible misconduct that is necessary to review this situation.”
The state police will be provided with all the information the university has received relating to the allegations, including the letters of complaint and depositions taken for the recent trial of a former public safety officer. Upon completion of the inquiry, the Indiana State Police will determine whether further investigation is warranted.
