Aria International Summer Academy attracts students from around the globe (6/23/2005)
Talented young musicians and instructors from around the country and around the world will come together at the Aria International Summer Academy at Ball State University from June 24 to July 15.

Mihai Tetel, cello professor at Ball State, founded Aria International Summer Academy 14 years ago. Before moving to Ball State in 2003, the program was hosted at the University of Western Ontario in London, Canada.

More than 100 young musicians from high schools and colleges in Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Italy, Korea, Taiwan and the United States will be participating in the academy. The intensive four-week program will include instruction in piano, violin, clarinet, flute and bassoon.

In addition to teaching, the faculty will also be giving weekly concerts free and open to the public. Concerts are at 8 p.m. June 24 and 27 and July 1, 8 and 15. All concerts will be held in Sursa Hall.
