Ball State trustees discuss two-year tuition plan, action to come after May 13 public forum
The Ball State University Board of Trustees today discussed a proposal that would increase in-state fees 4.8 percent in 2005-2006 and 5.5 percent in 2006-2007.

MUNCIE, Ind.– For the second time in four weeks, members of the public will be able to receive information on the factors that are affecting Ball State University's budget and provide input on student fees.

Ball State President Jo Ann M. Gora, other university senior leaders and members of the university's Board of Trustees will attend the forum beginning at 3:30 p.m. May 13 in the Pine Shelf Room of the L.A. Pittenger Student Center. The Pine Shelf Room is in the east end of the second floor. The student center is located at the intersection of McKinley and University avenues on the Ball State campus. Parking is available in the garage behind the student center.

The hearing will allow members of the public to comment on the university's proposed fees for the 2005-2006 and 2006-2007 years. The specifics of the proposal will be available following a discussion of it at the trustees regularly scheduled meeting at 2 p.m. May 6 and will be posted on the university's Web site at www.bsu.edu/news.

The trustees will not take action on the proposal until after they receive public input at the May 13 forum.

The university held its first public forum April 21 but did not discuss a specific fee proposal. The Indiana General Assembly passed a new state budget April 29 that included appropriations for Ball State, giving the university administration the information necessary to bring a tuition proposal before the trustees.
