The Teleplex, which also produced Daniels' swearing in ceremony Jan. 10 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, worked on Gov. Joseph Kernan's State of the State address telecast in 2004.
"Ball State was selected to produce the governor's address because we have a state-of- the-art, 40-foot-long remote production truck and a talented staff who do a fantastic job with live productions," said Alice Cheney, general manger of WIPB-TV, the university's public broadcasting station.
"We are happy to lend our expertise to the governor because this is our way of giving back to the state," she said. "At the same time, participating in these types of functions provides tremendous exposure for the university. Our truck is like a giant billboard parked prominently at each location."
Cheney said the Teleplex will work with a network of television and radio stations across the state broadcasting Daniels' first State of the State address, which is expected to focus heavily on his plan to tackle Indiana's budget problems.
The Teleplex provides technical support services including video production, CD-ROM development, Web development, graphics, instructional design, Video Information System, distance learning and satellite downlink. The Teleplex also includes the public broadcasting station WIPB-TV and Indiana Public Radio.
