
In her new position, Bales is responsible for providing leadership for the Student Center, Multicultural Center, Leadership and Service Learning, Disabled Student Development, and student organizations and activities.
She has served as acting associate vice president for the office since August. Previous to that she was director of Leadership and Service Programs from 1995-2000, director of student activities from 1991-95 and assistant director of student activities from 1989-91.
Before coming to Ball State she was director of Greek Affairs at Milliken University, Decatur, Ill.
She is a frequent speaker on leadership and student affairs issues and is active in the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators and the National Clearinghouse for Leadership Programs.
She has a doctorate degree in adult and community education from Ball State. She holds a master’s degree in guidance and counseling from Eastern Illinois University and a bachelor’s degree in public administration from Northern Kentucky University.
