Hong is best known in the campus health field for her innovative work with Louisiana State University's Men Against Violence — the first organization of its kind and scope in the country. She described her experiences as a rape survivor in a chapter of the book "Just Sex" (Rowman and Littlefield Publishers, 2000). She is currently on the board of directors of the Dane County (Wis.) Rape Crisis Center.
Hong has been dean of students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison since 2002. She was previously assistant vice president for student affairs and dean of students at Shepherd College in West Virginia. She also served as director of wellness education and outreach services and as an assistant professor of kinesiology at LSU, where she received her doctorate.
Hong received a bachelor's degree in psychology from Amherst College in 1990 and a master's of public health degree from Yale University in 1992. She is a past member of the American College Health Association Board of Directors.
In more than 1,700 presentations across the country, Hong has addressed both student and professional audiences and keynoted numerous regional and national conferences. Her dissertation results have been published in the Journal of American College Health.
