NOTICE: Indiana Public Radio outage may continue until Saturday (4/27/2001)
MUNCIE, Ind. -- Listeners should not be alarmed that three of Indiana Public Radio's stations five stations -- WBST 92.1FM Muncie, WBSB 89.5 Anderson, and WBSH 91.1 FM Hagerstown-New Castle -- are still off the air on Saturday morning, said Indiana Public Radio General Manager Anthony Hunt.

Hunt expects the malfunctioning technical equipment to be replaced later Saturday afternoon, thus restoring power to the affected stations.

"Fans of our morning programming -- Car Talk, Sound Money and other popular shows, can listen to WBST online," said Hunt. WBST is still able to audio stream its programming at www.iprn.org/listenonline/listenpage.html despite the outage. All five stations carry the same programming.

The outage occurred after WBST's power had to be reduced while the Muncie transmitter tower was being painted. WBSB and WBSH were affected because they receive their signal from WBST. However, the technical malfunction did not affect WBSW 90.9 FM Marion and WBSJ 91.7 FM Portland.

Indiana Public Radio is a service of Ball State University, a Public Radio International affiliate, and a National Public Radio member station. Its format includes NPR, news and classical music broadcast on WBST 92.1FM Muncie, WBSB 89.5FM Anderson, WBSW 90.9FM Marion, WBSJ 91.7FM Portland, and WBSH 91.1FM Hagerstown/New Castle.
