Risk management executive to visit Ball State this week (9/27/2004)
Business executive David G. Schwartz will discuss risk management issues Sept. 29-30 when he visits Ball State University.

As a professional-in-residence, Schwartz will conduct classroom lectures and make presentations to faculty and professionals. His visit is a result of a risk manager-in-residence grant awarded by the Spencer Education Foundation to Ball State's Risk Management and Insurance Program in the Miller College of Business.

Schwartz also will be the keynote speaker at a risk management seminar Sept. 29 at the Horizon Convention Center, 401 S. High St. The cost is $15.  The program is co-sponsored by Ball State's Miller College of Business and the Muncie-Delaware County Chamber of Commerce.

Schwartz is senior vice president for risk management of YKK Corporation of America and president of YKK Insurance Company of America.

His responsibilities with YKK primarily include risk management and other general administrative functions. Schwartz is working on a project to implement a global risk management program that will coordinate policies and procedures in the 60 countries where the firm has operations.

Schwartz received his bachelor degree from Farleigh Dickinson University, Teaneck, N.J.

(Note to Editors: For more information about his visit, contact Stephen Avila, co-director of Ball State's Center for Actuarial Science, Insurance and Risk Management, at savila@bsu.edu or (765) 285-5220.)
