Gora addresses state's brain drain, town-gown relations in broadcast (8/27/2004)
President Jo Ann M. Gora was featured Aug. 26 on Talk of Indiana, a live call-in program that was simulcast on Ball State's public radio and television stations.

The hour-long broadcast originated from Indiana Public Radio's studios in the Ball Communication Building and also aired on WIPB-TV. Gora answered questions from the show's hosts, Chris Bavender of Newslink Indiana and Larry Riley, a Ball State journalism instructor and Muncie Star Press columnist. She also took phone calls, e-mails and questions from a journalism class in the studio.

Early in the program, Gora said Ball State's "potential for greatness" prompted her decision to seek the university's presidency. (ListenRead)

Gora also spoke on other topics such as the role of Division 1-A athletics at Ball State, enrollment and the balance of research and teaching at the university. She talked about Ball State's opportunity to play a prominent role in keeping the state's college graduates in Indiana. (ListenRead)

She said she wants to ensure that Ball State has a productive town-gown relationship with the city of Muncie, and she was hopeful for great things from the Building Better Communities initiative. (ListenRead)
