MUNCIE, Ind. - Vehicle registration and parking fees will increase
slightly next school year to offset rising costs of improving and
maintaining parking facilities at Ball State University.
The university’s Board of Trustees approved increasing vehicle
registration and restricted parking fees at its meeting March 16.
The increase is the second since 1994 and is necessary to fund projected maintenance and improvements to parking facilities, said Thomas J. Kinghorn, vice president for business affairs.
General vehicle registration rates will increase from $35 to $40 per year while restricted parking fees for surface lots increase from $45 to $50 a semester. Parking garage fees go up from $50 to $55 a semester.
Amounts assessed for fines and penalties remain unchanged under the program. University faculty and staff may use a payroll deduction plan to pay parking fees.
Ball State implemented a five-year program last fall to increase rates in order to fund the costs of projected maintenance and improvements for existing parking facilities and proposed parking facilities.(NOTE TO EDITORS: For more information, contact Kinghorn by e-mail at tkinghorn@bsu.edu or by phone at (765) 285-1033.)
