Ball State is the fourth university in Indiana to join the National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges (NASULGC), a voluntary association of public universities, land-grant institutions and public university systems.
Other state universities in the organization include Indiana, Purdue and Indiana University-Purdue University, Indianapolis.
Founded in 1887, the organization is dedicated to supporting excellence in teaching, research and public service.
"Membership in NASULGC places Ball State in the network of the nation's largest and most prestigious universities," said Ball State President Blaine Brownell. "It also provides excellent opportunities for us to tell the Ball State story and to share with the higher education community some of the very special things we are doing here."
NASULGC has been in the forefront of educational leadership nationally for more than a century. About 206 universities and colleges are members of the organization, including 75 land-grant universities.
In addition to its new relationship with in NASULGC, Ball State will retain its long-standing membership in the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU).
