The concert will begin with "Konigsmarsch" by Richard Strauss, which was originally performed for Kaiser Wilhelm II of
The group will then perform Clifton Williams' "Dedicatory Overture," which was originally commissioned by its chapter at Evansville College (now University of Evansville) and features themes from the college's alma mater.
John Sheib, assistant professor of music education, will guest conduct George Gershwin's "An American in Paris," "Cuban Overture" and "Rhapsody in Blue."
The concert will continue with David R. Holsinger's "On a Hymnsong of Lowell Mason" and Ralph Vaughan Williams' "English Folk Song Suite," which includes "Seventeen Come Sunday," "My Bonny Boy" and "Folk Songs from Somerset."
Members of Phi Mu Alpha, a national musical fraternity, will close the performance with "The Sinfonians."
The concert band is the largest it has ever been with 118 members this year. The group is open to any Ball State student who wants to continue playing their band instrument, regardless if they are majoring in music. Less than 25 percent of the members are music majors.
The group is directed by Anthony Pursell and John Ginocchio, doctoral students majoring in conducting and music education.
In the event of rain, the concert will take place in Pruis Hall.
