"Dance! Dance! Dance!" will be performed in University Theatre Dec. 4-6 at
"This is a fabulous show," said Lou Ann Young, artistic director and assistant professor of dance. "All the numbers are different, which showcases the variety of dance styles taught by the department. If you don't like one piece, stick around and wait for the next one."
Work by two guest choreographers will be performed this year. Faculty member Ya'okov Eden's "Tae Kwan Robics,' inspired by his visit to Kongju National University of South Korea, will wrap up the first half of the performance. Also featured is returning guest choreographer Charlotte Adams and her "The Dichotomy of Desire," which the company will perform at the American College Dance Festival this spring in Slippery Rock, Pa.
The senior choreography projects of three students will be performed as well. Whitney Spencer's "Cyclical Rhapsody," Kimberly Blake's "Who I Am" and Stavroula Arabatgis' "Breaking Pointe" are all a part of this year's production. Also featured will be "Dreams Do Come True" from "Cinderella" the ballet, adapted by Young.
"We have an exceptionally wonderful company this year," said Young. She explained that since the department began requiring auditions five years ago, the caliber of dance students has noticeably increased and the program has literally been growing by leaps and bounds.
