The move will allow room for the construction of a planned music instruction building at the corner of Riverside and McKinley avenues.
University Relations and Student Affairs currently occupy the house. University Relations will move this summer to the Arts and Communication Building. Student Affairs will return to the Administration Building, currently undergoing renovations.
Once moved, the McKinley House will be used as administrative space for the Indiana Academy for Science, Mathematics and Humanities.
A date for the move will be set after competitive bids are taken. Cost is expected to be around $300,000.
Constructed in Colonial Revival style, McKinley House originally housed 15 apartments. The complex was named Elliott Apartments for Frank Elliott Ball, who financed its construction in 1930. The university purchased the building in 1965.
