The award honors chapters for excellence in communication, publicity, meeting management, chapter activities and leadership as well as participation in regional and international programs.
The Ball State chapter’s efforts included Honorary Member Week, a sophomore reception, volunteering at the Indianapolis Zoo, AIDS awareness Red Ribbon Day, Graduate Assistant of the Year reception and a Kiss the Pig fund-raiser.
Ball State delegates accepted the award before 1,250 convention delegates representing Golden Key’s 285 chapters around the world. All chapters may apply for the award but only the most outstanding receive the honor.
Andrea Deer, Alumni Association information coordinator, is chapter adviser.
Golden Key is a non-profit international academic honors organization that provides academic recognition, leadership opportunities, community service, career networking and scholarships. Membership is by invitation only to the top 15 percent of juniors and seniors in all fields of study.
