Lloyd, of Indianapolis, graduated in May with a bachelor’s degree in telecommunications.
While a student, she was an anchor for WCRH-TV and a host and moderator for "Spotlight@BSU" on WIPB-TV. She was the 1998 Miss Ball State.
She will spend the next year representing Indiana at public appearances. This includes competing in the Miss America Pageant in September at Atlantic City, N.J.
Diagnosed with asthma at age 4, Lloyd has chosen asthmatic awareness as her platform issue.
"I still have some problems, but I’ve learned to overcome them," she said. "That’s what I tell school children. They have to learn what their limitations and then learn to live a normal lifestyle."
After her year as Miss Indiana, Lloyd plans to pursue a job as a television news reporter or anchor.
First runner-up at the Miss Indiana pageant was Maria Selke, a senior from Parker City. Selke is the current Miss Ball State.
