MUNCIE, Ind. - Charles R. (Chip) Jaggers has been named associate executive director of development at Ball State University.

He will oversee the major gift program and help provide leadership for university development.

"Dr. Jaggers brings to the position leadership experience in development and breadth of experience in higher education. We are very pleased with this appointment," said Don Park, vice president for university advancement. "He brings a knowledge of Ball State that extends over three decades and that will be an asset to our major gift program."

Since 1996, Jaggers has worked closely with the development office while serving as Ball State’s director of university communications.

"For the past three years, he has demonstrated effective administrative leadership and exceptional knowledge of fund raising," said Hudson Akin, executive director of development.

Jaggers joins an award-winning development program. Ball State was recently notified that it will receive the 1999 Circle of Excellence in Educational Fund-Raising Award from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). The award, to be given in July, honors superior fund-raising programs across the country.

Prior to coming to Ball State, he served in three vice presidential positions at Taylor University (Indiana) including seven years as chief development officer. He also served as senior vice president for the William Taylor Foundation.

Jaggers holds master of arts and doctor of education degrees from Ball State. His appointment is effective immediately.

Ball State University, which enrolls 18,000 students, has more than 110,000 alumni worldwide and an operating budget of $196.9 million. The Ball State Foundation has assets in excess of $100 million, $80 million of which is endowment.
