Arts Alive series continues with world-renowned baritone Dec. 5 (11/16/2006)
Ball State will continue this year's Arts Alive Concert Series with Timothy Noble at 8 p.m. Dec. 5 at Sursa Performance Hall.

Noble, a baritone, is known as one of the world's great interpreters of Giuseppe Verdi's lead male operatic roles. The Indiana native and Ball State alumnus has performed in New York's Metropolitan Opera and the Netherlands Opera. He also has honored his Hoosier roots by recording a disc of Cole Porter songs.

Now an Indiana University professor, he said he's excited about performing again at his alma mater.

"It's like coming home to me," said Noble, who was a member of Ball State's University Singers.

Pianist, composer and vocal coach Edwin Penhorwood will accompany Noble. Penhorwood has accompanied singers and instrumentalists in North America and Europe for many years.

The performance will include selections from Brahms' "Wie Melodien zieht es mir," Ravel's "Don Quichotte à Dulcinée," Tosti's "La Serenata," Donaudy's "O del mio amato ben" and Porter's "All of You."

The Arts Alive Series will conclude with pianist Antonio Pompa-Baldi at 8 p.m. Feb. 13.

Tickets cost $35. For more information, contact the College of Fine Arts at (765) 285-5495.
