National Performances of Works by Michael Pounds

Dr. Michael Pounds, Assistant Professor of Music Theory and Composition at Ball State, recently had his electronic pieces Meiso (Meditation) and Bells performed at the Electronic Music Midwest regional festival at Kansas City Kansas Community College. Bells was specifically chosen to be part of the annual collaborative effort 60x60 which is a collection of sixty different works by various composers each sixty seconds in length.

Pounds has also recently had his electronic works featured at the Kentucky New Music Festival, as well as the Festival and Conference of New Music for the Society of Composers, Region 2 and the Long Island Composers Alliance.

The New West Electronic Arts & Music Organization (NWEAMO) chose Meiso (Meditation) to be featured along with six other compositions in a CD jukebox available to listeners at festivals in San Diego, New York, Boulder, and Morelia Mexico.

Pounds' recent composition Collection was accepted for the upcoming 2008 conference of the Society for Electro-Acoustic Music in the United States, to be held at the University of Utah this coming April. Collection was also accepted for the Florida Electroacoustic Music Festival to be held in April in Gainesville, Florida, and for the Spark Festival of Electronic Music and Arts to be held in Minneapolis in February/March.
