Music Technology Studios Hosts ModernVision Films (E.P.D.) Project. (1/22/2008)

Music Technology Studios, School of Music, MUNCIE, IN. January 19, 2008 –ModernVision Films is producing a professional music video and documentary, known as “The Chapman Project”. On Saturday, January 19, 2008, band members: Ben Clark, Adam Hendrickson, Donnie Hyso, Mike “Boston” Paddock, Allison Nimtz, and Greg Kinat recorded their song by recording engineer Matt Morris. A whole crew of directors, camera operators, boom operator, photographer, makeup designer and extras came together to film the recording studio scenes for the music video alongside capturing footage for the production documentary and behind the scenes movie.
The Chapman Project was created based on pure will. This project started development in early September of 2007. There was no name chosen for this project at the point. The name was not chosen until the end of December 2008. The idea came to the producer/director, that this project could launch an all expenses paid graduate school education. The graduate school of choice was selected to be Chapman University, Lawrence & Kristina Dodge College of Film and Media Arts. Thus, the projects name became The Chapman Project.

The Chapman project is a two-part project.
The first part is producing a music video. This production requires the building of a band from scratch, a professional recording of a track, and the filming of the band. The Department of Music Technology assisted in the recording of the band, by house engineer Jeff Seitz and student sound engineer Matt Erwin. This project will also be filmed in Emens Auditorium, in Southern California, as well as other locations.

The second portion of The Chapman Project is producing a documentary of the music video production. The Director of “In the Making,” Bryant Vanderweerd, is leading the documentary crew to capture all elements in the production of The Chapman Project.

The Chapman Project will be entered into Sundance and Con Film Festivals, among 40 other film festivals and contests. Producer/Director of the Chapman Project, Christian Guynn, wants “to put Ball State on the map”. Students and Faculty from the Telecommunication, Music, and Theatre departments will collaborate to create this professionally elaborate project furthering Ball State’s commitment of creativity and exploration.

“You can’t let the combination of a good mind and strong will go to waste.” – Christian Guynn
