Eleanor Trawick holds a B.A. from Columbia University in New York and a Ph.D. from the State University of New York at Buffalo, where she studied composition with David Felder and Charles Wuorinen, and theory with John Clough and Martha Hyde.  Her compositional output emphasizes instrumental chamber music in addition to vocal, choral, and orchestral music.

In addition to her composition and teaching, she is a violist and she also directs a Unitarian Universalist church choir.
