In addition to teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in instrumental music education and research, Dr. Scheib also serves as Interim Associate Director of the School of Music. A Wisconsin native, Dr. Scheib holds music education degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (B.M.) and the University of Wisconsin-Madison (M.M. & Ph.D.). Prior to his university-level work, Dr. Scheib taught instrumental music in the Wisconsin public schools for 9 years. Dr. Scheib’s research interests include the beliefs and practices of school music teachers, music teacher identity construction and related job (dis)satisfaction, music education reform, and student motivation. Recent articles authored by Dr. Scheib have appeared in the Journal of Research in Music Education, Update: Applications of Research in Music Education, Journal of Music Teacher Education, Arts Education Policy Review, Music Educators Journal, Teaching Music, and Indiana Musicator. Dr. Scheib maintains an active schedule presenting research and clinics at various state, regional, national, and international professional conferences. Dr. Scheib is in demand as a clinician and guest conductor and has worked with instrumental groups ranging from beginning band to elite university wind ensembles. Dr. Scheib is listed in several "Who's Who" publications, received the "Richard G. Gaarder Award" by the Wisconsin Music Educators Association (WMEA), and recently received the "Outstanding Advisor Award" from Ball State for his work with BSU's collegiate MENC chapter. Dr. Scheib is a member of the American Educational Research Association (AERA), College Music Society (CMS), Indiana Music Educators Association (IMEA), Music Educators National Conference (MENC), Society for Music Teacher Education (SMTE), and Society for Research in Music Education (SRME). Dr. Scheib is currently a member of the Editorial Committee for the Music Educators Journal and serves on the IMEA Board of Directors as Research Chair.
