Master of Music in Piano Performance and Pedagogy: School of Music

Ball State University's master of music degree in piano performance and pedagogy requires 31-32 credit hours of study. Minimum course requirements are outlined below.

Piano Performance (11 Credit Hours)

Applied Piano: three semesters--if the performance recital or lecture recital is not selected as the research option, then the student will demonstrate appropriate piano skills in a hearing or jury (6)
Ensemble: two semesters of chamber music or accompanying (2)

Performance Literacy (3 hours)

MUHIS 501 - Piano Literature.

Piano Pedagogy (12 credit hours)

MUSPE 525 - Elementary Piano Pedagogy and Literature.

MUSPE 526 - Intermediate Piano Pedagogy and Literature.

MUSPE 692 - Special Topics in Music Performance.

RES 697 - Research Paper.

Academic Music: Music Theory/Music History (5-6 Credit Hours)
