Master of Music in Performance: School of Music, Ball State University

Ball State University's master of music degree in performance requires 30 credit hours of study. Minimum course requirements are outlined below.

Major in Music (26-29 Credit Hours)

Ensembles: participation based on discussion involving the student, the major teacher, and the ensemble director (2-3)
Academic Music (Theory/Composition and History/Musicology): four courses--one core course minimum in history/musicology and one core course minimum in theory/composition (9-12)

Research

MUSED 668 - Research in Music Education.

MUHIS 600 - Methodology and Bibliography in Musicology.

Electives (1‑4 Credit Hours)

Options include the following:

Voice majors are expected to be proficient in German, French, and Italian diction.
