Master of Music in Conducting

Ball State University's master of music degree in conducting requires 32 credit hours of study. Minimum course requirements are outlined below.

Ensembles (1-3)
Academic Music: three courses--one core course minimum in theory/composition; one core course minimum in history/musicology (7-9)

Conducting Courses (12 hours)

MUSPE 690 - Advanced Conducting.

MUSPE 691 - *Lessons in Advanced Conducting.

Ensemble Administration or Laboratory Course (2-3 hours)

MUSED 651 - Band Administration.

MUSED 673 - Band Rehearsal Laboratory.

MUSED 674 - Orchestra Rehearsal Laboratory.

MUSED 675 - Choral Rehearsal Laboratory.

MUSPE 593 - Workshop in Music Performance.

Instrumental or Vocal Study (2 hours)

MUSPE 626 - *Piano for the Conductor.

Creative Project Recital

RES 697 - Research Paper.

Research (3 hours)

MUHIS 600 - Methodology and Bibliography in Musicology.
