Graduate Fellowships
A limited number of graduate fellowships are available each year to both qualified master's and doctoral students. Fellows have no obligation to the university other than to maintain a high level of academic performance and to participate fully in school activities appropriate to their discipline.

Fellowships are awarded on the strength of the student's prior academic work (GPA), scores on the GRE General Test (85th percentile ranking or higher), letters of recommendation, and the support of the department. If you have a strong academic background, and two of the three sub-scores on the GRE General Test are at or above the 85th percentile, we encourage you to apply for a Ball State graduate fellowship.

Qualifications

  • Degree in music from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Demonstrated ability in performance, teaching, composition, or research.
  • Full admission to one of the following degree programs: master of arts in music, master of music, or doctor of arts with a major in music.

Application Procedure

The application process for the fellowship should be completed before March 1. Send a letter of interest together with a copy of your GRE scores (general test, not the subject music test) and a copy of your transcripts to Kirby Koriath, coordinator of graduate programs in music.
