Jim Bradley currently serves as Head of Metadata and Digital Initiatives for Ball State University Libraries. His work is primarily focused on expanding the digital holdings of Ball State. In this capacity, he is working with representatives of various academic departments, disciplines, museums, historical societies, and individual donors to create and adapt digital artifacts for classroom use…on campus, throughout the state, and beyond.
Before joining Ball State University in December of 2004, Jim served as Metadata and Structured Text Specialist for the American Theological Library Association in Chicago, IL (www.atla.com) – working with a team of theologians and librarians to create and maintain electronic research tools, most notably the ATLA Religion Database (ATLA-RDB), and the ATLA Serials Database (ATLAS). He has also worked as a contract specialist for a wide variety of organizations including the United States Department of the Interior/National Park Service, the Kentucky State Folklore Office, and the St. Louis Archdiocese of the Roman Catholic Church.
Jim earned a Master of Information Science (MIS) degree from Indiana University School of Library and Information Science, and has completed post-graduate work in the areas of Folklore and Museum Studies at Western Kentucky University. He also holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Photography and Painting from WKU.
