Amanda Hurford
Amanda Hurford is the Digital Initiatives Multimedia Developer in the Metadata and Digital Initiatives area of Ball State University Libraries. Since coming to Ball State in January 2007, she has contributed to the University Libraries’ Digital Media Repository, largely by working to bring the Middletown Oral History Project online. In this project, Amanda trained, supervised, and/or executed the digitization, transcription, metadata creation, and online presentation of the oral histories. She also maintains the content on the Ball State Oral Histories Wiki, where the project is documented online.

Before coming to Ball State, Amanda was employed at IUPUI University Library where she worked as Senior Acquisitions Assistant and later transitioned to the role of Digital Initiatives Specialist. In that capacity she participated in the development of the Digital Collections of IUPUI University Library using CONTENTdm and directly oversaw the University Library Digitization Center and its student workers.

She holds a Master of Library Science degree with a Specialization in Library Technology Management from Indiana University-Purdue University, Indianapolis (IUPUI), which she received in 2005. Amanda also has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies from California State University, Fullerton and she completed post-graduate work in Education at California State University, Northridge. Amanda belongs to several professional library organizations and has given presentations on both local and national levels.
