Music Collection
Located on Lower Level West of Bracken Library, the Music Collection contains musical scores, books on music and music recordings. The Music Collection also has an extensive selection of Music Reference books and staff members with advanced degrees in music to answer music reference questions.
The collection contains more than 17,000 CDs which can be searched in CardCat and checked out at the Music Collection Counter. For popular music (Pop, Rock, Hip-Hop, Jazz, World, Country and more), you can also use the University Libraries' Media Finder. To find classical music for specific instruments use the Chamber Music Finder.
In addition to these services, the Music Collection Counter also functions as a listening laboratory for courses in music history, appreciation, and theory. Computers near the counter have Finale 2008TM music notation software that allows users to compose their own music and play it back. Headphones and MIDI keyboards may be checked out from the counter for use with Finale.
