GENERAL INFORMATION:

Microforms houses the microform collection, microform readers, and reader/printers. Microforms are printed materials reduced in size and reproduced on film, fiche, or cards. Readers are special machines that project and enlarge images for reading. Print copies of the microforms can be made from those readers equipped with printers; copies are 10 cents per page. Scanning and saving documents to flash drives, cd's, iLocker accounts and zip drives is available.

Periodicals, newspapers, college catalogs, government publications, books, special reports, and census information on microform can be found in Microforms. To find out if material in the Library is available on microform, the user should check:

  • Government Publications Service, Bracken Library, First Floor West

Microforms is a self-serve area, but assistance is available at the Circulation/Course Reserve counter to assist with use of machinery and location of materials. Items which have been used should be returned to the booktruck located at the end of the first reader/printer machine in Microforms.

CIRCULATION POLICY:

Most materials in Microforms do not circulate. However, limited microform items may be circulated for two weeks upon presentation of a valid BSU identification card. Portable microfiche readers are also available for borrowing.

Overdue, lost, or damaged materials are subject to the Library Fine and Cost Policy. Copies of the Library Fine and Cost Policy are available at all circulation counters, the Library Information rack in the main lobby of Bracken Library, and on the University Libraries' home page can be found here.
