What's in the Visual Resources Collection?

The Visual Resources Collection collects images and materials related to architecture, landscape architecture, urban and regional planning, historic preservation, and related disciplines.

Architecture Images Collection 

   

  •  More than 60,000 high quality digital images in the University Libraries Digital Media Repository (DMR).
  • Related to the study of architecture, landscape architecture, urban planning, and historic preservation.
  • Purchased from vendors, donated by students and faculty members, or scanned from the slide collection.

Architecture Building Material Samples Collection

  • Samples of innovative or sustainable building materials.
  • Product literature and/or specifications.

Slide Collections

   

  •  David R. Hermansen Slide Collection
    The slide collection was named for the late David R. Hermansen, the first faculty member of the College of Architecture and Planning (CAP) when the college was started in 1966. Professor Hermansen helped establish the Architecture Library and the Architecture Slide Collection, which was later named in his honor. His personal slides are available in the VRC and the digital images made from these slides are available in the Architecture Images Collection in the Digital Media Repository (DMR).
  • Indiana Collection
    • More than 10,000 slides of historic and contemporary architecture in Indiana.
    • Select examples of Indiana landscape architecture and planning.
    • Digital images scanned from the slides in this collection are available in the Architecture Images Collection in the DMR.

Workstations

  

  •  1 workstation with DVD/CD-RW combo drive, USB ports, and audio ports

Slide Scanner

  

  • Converts 35mm slides into digital images that may be saved to disc, external drive, or iLocker account.
