What's in the Library?

The Architecture Library collects materials dealing with architecture, landscape architecture, urban and regional planning, historic preservation, building science, and related disciplines.

Faculty and students are encouraged to make suggestions for new acquisitions. Use the Suggest Materials for the Architecture Library Collection form to make a suggestion.

Collection

Workstations

  • 14 workstations with DVD/CD-RW combo drives, USB ports, and audio ports. All the Software available on workstations in the University Libraries plus:  ArcGIS Desktop, ArcInfo Workstation, ArcView 3.3, Athena Environmental Impact Estimator, AutoDesk AutoCAD 2009, AutoDesk Revit Building 8, GeoMedia Professional 6.5, Google Sketchup.
  • 3 workstations are attached to 11 x 17 flatbed scanners and offer:  scanning software for Epson GT15000 scanners, Adobe Acrobat Professional 7, ImageReady CS2, Photoshop CS2.
  • 1 workstation has additional software:  Architect's Handbook to Professional Practice, Architectural Graphic Standards (10th ed.), Great Buildings Collection, Sweet's CD, International Building Code 2006.
  • 1 workstation is attached to a Nikon CoolScan V slide scanner. Another slide scanner available in the Visual Resources Collection, AB117.

Printing and Copying

  • All workstations print to the library's black and white printing station. Students and faculty may print 1000 free pages per semester; each page over 1000 costs 5 cents. 
  • Color photocopier/printer.
    • All workstations print to the library's color photocopier/printer.
    • 25¢ for 8 1/2 x 11 and 11 x 17 copies.
    • Accepts University Libraries Copy Cards. Copies are also 25¢ with the card.
  • Black and white photocopier.
    • Accepts University Libraries Copy Cards (6¢ per 8 1/2 x 11 copy; 12¢ per 11 x 17 copy) or coins and dollar bills (10¢ per 8 1/2 x 11 copy; 20¢ per 11 x 17 copy).
  • Copy Cards may be purchased for $1 (exact change only) at the Architecture Library Circulation Desk, Monday-Friday during business hours or at Bracken Library.

BSU Libraries Laptop Printing

  • Send print jobs to the Architecture Library's black and white printer or other University Libraries printers.

Using Laptops in the Library

  • Electrical outlets for use with laptops throughout the library.
  • Wireless Internet access is available to university students, faculty, and staff on the BSU network. Guest library users may use the BSU guest network. See also Wireless Network Access at Ball State.
  • Dataports and electrical outlets are available at the tables in the northwest corner of the library.

TV/VCR/DVD player

  • Located in the alcove near the copier. See the Circulation Desk to check out headphones.
