Catalogs

  • UNBISnet: Search or browse for documents and publications, voting records and speeches. Links to the full text of resolutions and speeches are provided.
  • UNBIS Thesaurus United Nations Bibliographic Information System Thesaurus. Search for a word or phrase to find related terms used in UN documents and indexes. Provides terms in all official languages of the UN: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.

Databases

  • UN-I-QUE: United Nations Info Quest  Database designed by the Dag Hammarskjöld Library to quickly provide United Nations document symbols of frequently requested documents. The database does not contain full bibliographic information for documents.  For a complete catalog, consult UNBISnet.
  • Official Document System of the UN (ODS) Online repository of officially published parliamentary documents and resolutions. The ODS does not include sales publications, items that are published as part of the Treaties Series or press releases. 
  • UNCAPS- United Nations System Shared Cataloguing and Public Access System  A centralized system that "provides a single point of access to library catalogs, indexes and abstract databases, library holdings, links to full-text resources, and archives."
  • United Nations Treaty Collection    Provides online access to several databases including the United Nations Treaty Series, Status of Multilateral Treaties and Texts of Recently Deposited Multilateral Treaties. A subscription is required for access to the databases.

Guides

  • United Nations Documentation Research Guide This online guide "presents an overview of the various types of documents and publications issued by the Organization (e.g, reports, resolutions, meeting records, sales publications, press releases) and gives guidance on how to work with them."
  • United Nations System Pathfinder Use this guide to identify significant UN publications (global studies, handbooks and guides, bibliographies and indices, international statistical publications, compilations of treaties, resolutions, and annual reports) by topic.
  • United Nations Scholars' Workstation This online guide from Yale University Library "is a collection of texts, finding aids, data sets, maps, and pointers to print and electronic information." Access restrictions apply for some resources.

  • Daily Briefing Highlights of the previous day's briefing, provided by the Spokesman for the Secretary-General. Archives for the previous year are also available.
  • UN Pulse : A blog from the United Nations Dag Hammarskjöld Library which announces "selected just-released UN online information, major reports, publications and documents."
  • United Nations Multimedia Find UN news stories and radio, television and webcasts on UN activities.
  • United Nations Webcasts View live and archived webcasts from various UN Organs.

Periodicals/Publications

  • United Nations Publications A list of UN periodicals and pamphlets available online.
  • Publications Online store for UN sales publications. Search or browse for publications and add them to your "shopping cart" for purchase.

Statistics

  • United Nations Statistics Division Provides statistical databases and reports on best practices for collecting statistics worldwide. Both subscription and unrestricted access statistical databases are available online.

  • UN Online Network in Public Administration & Finance (UNPAN) Portal to documents and other resources on public management and administration. Content is arranged by language document type, region and core themes. Use the Training and Orientation multi-media presentation to learn how to access information quickly on the portal. (I'm not sure if this is something students and faculty here would need.)
  • Recent Additions list of recently added web pages, UN Pulse is more up-to-date and provides more information
