The 1954 Sanborn map of
Muncie of the same city block reveals a new form of transportation: The livery and stables have been replaced by
an auto body shop and a parking lot. Another auto service shop and parking lot,
tire sales and service shop, and a filling station complete the
block. Parking lots had not been seen
prior to this later Sanborn map, and numerous single garages
have been constructed near the dwellings.
