Majors

Increase your employability, expand your global awareness and cultural sensitivity, and enrich your life by majoring in a language.

In our increasingly global community, knowledge of other cultures and the ability to speak one or many languages other than English are invaluable skills that can help you in the job market and enrich your life by giving you a deeper understanding of the world.

We offer majors in both ancient and modern foreign languages and work closely with other major programs and departments to combine language training with other subjects.

We enhance traditional classroom instruction with electronic classrooms, multi-media language learning laboratories, and a variety of summer and academic year study abroad and student exchange programs.

Minors

Adding a minor in a language strengthens almost any major.

Consider minoring in Japanese, Spanish, or Chinese to complement your business, education, or health care-related major. Add a minor in French or German to your major in music. Strengthen your major in history, science, pre-med, or law with a minor in classical languages and/or classical cultures.
