He holds professional licenses in architecture, landscape architecture, and interior design. Dr. Motloch directs the Sustainability For The Americas program at Ball State including its two FIPSE-funded consortia: The US-Brazil Sustainability Consortium and the North American Sustainability, Housing and Community Consortium. He is also a Research Fellow at the Center for Maximum Potential Building Systems in Austin, Texas. Dr. Motloch is a member of the newly-formed Indiana BioTown Task Force that is planning the conversion of Reynolds, Indiana into the nation’s first town to be powered by 100% biorenewable energy. Dr. Motloch has a BArch (University of Texas, 1970), Master of Landscape Architecture (University of Pennsylvania, 1978), and Phd in Landscape Architecture (University of Pretoria, 1992; “Delivery Models for Urbanization in an Emerging South Africa”). He authored Introduction to Landscape Design (VNR, 1990; 2nd ed. Wiley, 2000, Translation to Chinese in progress) and co-authored Site Reconnaissance and Engineering.
