While there are many audio software tools you could use to create audio podcasts, we will be using Apple's Garageband.
1). When you first launch Garageband you will be presented with the following screen to select the type of project you wish to create. In this case you want to select "New Podcast Episode".
2). Give the your podcast a name. By default all Garageband projects are stored in the users "Music" folder under "Garageband".
3). There are presets for the recording of a female or male voice. Select one that is appropriate for you.
4). You can can begin recording by clicking on the round red record button.
NOTE: When recording
sound you can use the built in microphone on your
Apple laptop or iMac. For better sound quality it
is recommended that you consider using a external
microphone. The iStudio has external
microphones that you can use and are available
for short duration checkout.
5). Once your done recording you can export your
podcast episode. Select "Export Song to Disk..."
option and select a location to save your file.
6). Select AAC Encoder in the the
Compress Using option and
Good Quality for the Audio
Settings. For just spoken voice podcasts
these are the best suited options to create small
and fast downloading files.
