Stephanie
Wiechmann
Senior Producer / All Things Considered host
A native of Illinois, Stephanie’s love for radio started
as a competitor in her high school’s speech team. Her
judges frequently wrote “You should work for NPR or public
radio!” in the margins before giving her high scores.
Stephanie attended Washington and Lee University in Lexington,
Virginia, where she cultivated a love for the art of the interview,
sweet tea, and all things Southern. She spent her time on
campus working for WLUR, the college radio station, hosting a weekly
public affairs show, supervising and producing shows for the Culture & Education
department, and assisting in running the station. She spent
her time off campus working for the local AM/FM stations as a reporter
and board operator. In the summer of 2006, Stephanie interned
with NPR member station WFAE in Charlotte, North Carolina. She
graduated cum laude from W&L in 2007 with a B.A. in Print Journalism
and a concentration in Public Speaking.
At IPR, Stephanie covers Madison and Hamilton counties for the
award-winning newsroom and anchors IPR’s local broadcast
of All Things Considered (weekday afternoons).
In her free time, she likes reading beautifully-written books,
keeping up with friends all over the country, watching CSI, and
putting off doing her dishes.
