Pamela deMarris has undergraduate and graduate experience from Rhode Island School of Design and received an M.F.A. in Photography from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, IL.
She has taught and lectured about varied Photographic techniques at Maine Photographic Workshops, Rockport Maine, Rhode Island School of Design, Ball State University and various workshops throughout the USA, South America, Canada, and Europe.
During the past thirty years deMarris has exhibited work at galleries and museums in the USA, Middle East, South America, Canada, Mexico and Europe. The NEA granted four Fellowships to deMarris by the NEA, one Residency through the International Residency Program in Giverny, France home of Claude Monet's Gardens and a Visiting Artist Residency throughout Colombia.
DeMarris has been featured in numerous magazine articles, books and other publications. Her work is in the collection of several museums and notable permanent collections.
Being female and having children, my artwork has always related to female and family issues. Raising children and pursuing a career in art presents many challenges. My photographic images are intended to depict and challenge the classic roles designated to femininity.
