Ball State University is located in a pleasant, residential community one mile from the business center of Muncie, Indiana. With a population of approximately 80,000, Muncie is close to two major metropolititan areas, 55 miles northeast of Indianapolis (the capital of the state of Indiana) and 200 miles southeast of Chicago.
Current student enrollment is approximately 18,000 with over 500 international undergraduate and graduate students representing more than 80 different countries of origin. Ball State's 900 plus teaching faculty are committed first and foremost to student learning and personal growth. The parklike campus provides all necessary amenities to support academic achievement and an enjoyable lifestyle, including the University's main library, The Alexander M. Bracken Library, state of the art computer resources, extensive student organizations and numerous recreational opportunities.
The standard University academic year, which begins in late August and concludes in early May, includes two fifteen-week semesters. During the summer months (May, June, and July), two five-week sessions together similarly constitute a semester.
